Nas Daily, the Israeli-Palestinian content creator who has captured the hearts of millions with his one-minute videos, has embarked on his latest adventure in Azerbaijan. With over 4 million followers on Instagram alone, Nas has become a global sensation, known for his unique ability to tell stories that bridge cultures and highlight shared human experiences. Born in Israel to a Palestinian Arab family, Nuseir Yassin—better known as Nas Daily—began his journey by documenting his travels across the world, eventually amassing a dedicated following eager to see the world through his lens.
Azerbaijan has been on the 32-year-old’s bucket list for five years, and now he’s finally made it to this fascinating crossroads of East and West. On his first day in the capital city of Baku, Nas set out to explore the diverse religious landscape of the country. He visited a church, a mosque, and a synagogue, using his platform to showcase Azerbaijan’s commitment to religious tolerance. Through his videos, Nas hopes to challenge stereotypes and offer his followers a deeper understanding of this often-overlooked nation.
One of the highlights of his day was a visit to the Chabad center, where Nas delved into the history of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan. He learned about the significant contributions of Lev Leviev, a prominent figure not only in our Bukharian community, but in the wider Jewish community, who has played a crucial role in supporting Jewish life in the region. Nas shared a video from the Chabad with his millions of followers, shedding light on this vibrant and enduring community.
For those following his journey, there’s plenty more to come. As Nas continues to explore Azerbaijan, many wonder where he will go next? My bet is on Guba—a town in northern Azerbaijan known for its unique cultural heritage. Guba is home to the Museum of Mountain Jews, a place I had the privilege of writing about for Time’s World’s Greatest Places 2024 and which I also featured two weeks ago in the Bukharian Times’ issue 1174. The museum offers a window into the history and traditions of the Mountain Jews, a community that has thrived in the Caucasus for centuries, and now, much like their Bukharian brothers, can be found scattered around the world.
Whether or not Nas makes it to Guba, his journey through Azerbaijan is sure to be filled with stories that captivate and inspire his global audience. Tune in to his channels to see where his travels take him next and experience the beauty of Azerbaijan through the eyes of one of the world’s most beloved storytellers.
