In celebration of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, a native of Puerto Rico, visited two sukkahs at Queens College in Flushing on Tuesday, Oct. 22, QNS reported. The sukkahs were built by student-led groups Queens Hillel and Chabad on Campus.
Rodríguez, joined by Queens College President Frank Wu, gathered with Jewish students to mark this meaningful seven-day festival. «The harvest sukkah symbolizes both courage and fragility—two themes that resonate in so many of our lives,» said Wu.
«Honoring the Israelites’ brave journey to freedom, the holiday of Sukkot imparts powerful lessons in resilience and community.»
