Reuben Brothers have acquired the W South Beach luxury hotel in Miami from Tricap and RFR.
Originally purchased in 2004, Tricap and RFR developed the 3.5-acre property, which opened as W South Beach and The Residences at W South Beach in 2009. Now, with 348 managed hotel and condo units, the property has been sold to Reuben Brothers in a deal valued at over $400 million. Jeffrey Davis, Managing Director at Eastdil Secured, advised the sellers.
Founded by brothers David and Simon Reuben, who were born in India and moved to London as teenagers, the Reuben Brothers organization was built on a foundation of ambition and business acumen. The brothers amassed their fortune by trading metals through their company, Trans-World Group, which they sold in 2000. Today, the Reubens have a combined net worth of approximately $16.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, and their portfolio spans luxury properties, infrastructure, and strategic investments worldwide.

This acquisition marks Reuben Brothers’ second major hotel purchase in Florida, following their acquisition of the Chesterfield in Palm Beach, set to reopen as The Vineta under the Oetker Collection in early 2025. They also hold a stake in the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, which recently underwent a $300 million transformation, adding 685 rooms, expanded event spaces, a 36-hole golf course, and the Tidal Cove Waterpark.
Additionally, Reuben Brothers and their partners at Three Rules Capital are developing Esencia, a $2.6 billion luxury community in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. The 2,000-acre property will feature five luxury hotels from brands like Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, 900 branded residences, two golf courses, a town center, medical wellness facilities, and a K-12 school.
Jamie Reuben, principal at Reuben Brothers, stated: “We are excited to build on the extraordinary success that has already been achieved. Our vision is clear: to secure its standing as Miami’s leading global destination, while reimagining its future and delivering an unparalleled luxury experience.”
