The past few weeks at the JIQ Boys’ Middle and High School have been nothing short of extraordinary, with students immersing themselves in enriching experiences, showcasing their talents, and preparing for upcoming events that promise to bring even more excitement.

A Trip to Touro College

The juniors and seniors recently had the opportunity to visit Touro College, a trip that opened their eyes to the world of higher education. Walking through the campus, engaging with faculty, and learning about the diverse programs available, the students gained a deeper understanding of the opportunities awaiting them after high school. The visit sparked meaningful conversations about their future paths and how to best prepare for the academic and professional world.

A Very Special Kumzitz with Shlomo Mash

Back on campus, the school was abuzz with energy during a special Kumzitz, featuring the up-and-coming singer Shlomo Mash, accompanied by Mr. A on guitar. The melodic tunes and heartfelt lyrics brought students and staff together in a beautiful moment of unity. The Kumzitz filled the room with a sense of joy and inspiration, leaving everyone uplifted and connected through the power of music and song.

The excitement continued with the Middle School Spelling Bee, an event that had the entire middle school on edge with anticipation. The competition was intense, with students displaying remarkable spelling skills and composure under pressure. While the spellers competed on stage, the audience cheered them on, enjoying thoughtfully prepared gift bags that added to the festive atmosphere. After several riveting rounds, the winners emerged:

Hands-on Science

While the spelling bee unfolded, Dr. Babekov’s class continued with an engaging lesson on capillarity, diving into the fascinating science behind the movement of liquids through narrow spaces. The students were captivated by the experiments and discussions, blending hands-on learning with theoretical exploration.

Up Next: High School Shabbaton

Adding to the excitement, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming High School Shabbaton, scheduled for December 6th. Anticipation is building as students and staff finalize plans for what promises to be a meaningful and memorable weekend of connection, inspiration, and growth. The Shabbaton is a cornerstone event for the high school, offering participants the chance to deepen their bonds and strengthen their spiritual connections in a unique and immersive setting.
With so many incredible experiences and milestones, JIQ Boys’ Middle and High School continues to shine as a place where students grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Each event and activity reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to lead meaningful lives.
