Baruch Haimov. A Life of Kindness, Curiosity, and Devotion

Dedicated to the blessed memory of our beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and cousin Baruch Haimov, whose absence leaves a deep loss in our lives.

A fountain of wisdom has fallen silent, and a pure, gentle, and loving heart has stopped beating.

A terrible tragedy has devastated our family and community. Our hearts are shattered, bleeding with an irreparable loss and an immeasurable, unending pain, a sorrow that feels like a nightmare from which we cannot awaken.

Baruch was born on December 21,1998, at 6:10 p.m. (ב׳ בטבת תשנ״ט) at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He was the firstborn of Yaakov and Roza Haimov and the eldest sibling to Eliana, Nataniel, and Ilan.

From the start, he was surrounded by family who adored him.

Baruch was the great-grandson of the righteous Rabbi Eliyahu Mani Aminov of Samarkand. He was the first grandson of Avraham and Barno Aminov and the second grandchild of Alik and Zipora z”l Haimov.

Baruch’s Sandak was his uncle, Mark Haimov. From an early age, he shared many of his uncle’s qualities: handy, organized, caring, loving animals, and always eager to help others.

From an early age, Baruch’s creativity and artistic nature came naturally, along with his deep love and nurturing care for animals. He was a bright and happy child who loved to dance and sing, often expressing his excitement by snapping to the beat of songs.

He enjoyed reading books listening to stories, and helping feed and care for his younger siblings. Baruch loved creating through play, shaping dough and completing puzzles.

Baruch shared an exceptionally close bond with his siblings, Eliana, Nataniel, and Ilan. They spent countless hours playing together, filling the house with nonstop laughter; whether they were hiding behind doors in endless games of hide and seek, teaming up on Bubble Trouble, or competing on Miniclip games. Sundays were always family-day adventures, and some of Baruch’s happiest memories were made during outings to the zoo, the Miami Seaquarium, Jumpin’ Jamboree, Polo Park, Parrot Jungle, and the Children’s Museum; places where he loved to explore, discover, and learn.

From 18 months old to 7 years old, Baruch attended Hebrew

Academy alongside his cousins Aaron and Moshe where they shared birthdays and school days.

In 2005, Baruch began attending Toras Emes Elementary School. That same year, his beloved grandmother Zipora passed away. She had adored him, showering him with kisses and spending time with him every day.

At age 11, In 2009, the family moved to their current home. Where he lived most of his life and made many of his dreams a reality.

At age 13, Baruch celebrated his bar mitzvah with his cousins Aaron and Moshe, a beautiful event they called “BAM.” He read the Torah beautifully, taught by Rabbi Neria Cohen, who also ran many youth programs at the synagogue, such as Purim, Hanukkah events and summer camps.

After middle school at Rohr, where he developed his leadership and creative skills, Baruch briefly attended Toras Chaim. However, he found the long school hours overwhelming and transferred to public school, where his spirituality stood out. On his very first day, he called his mother and said, “Mama, they don’t have a sink or cup for *Netilat Yadayim*.” That purity and awareness stayed with him all his life.

Baruch completed ninth grade in public school and earned his high school diploma online.

At sixteen, he joined the family business, where he handled everything from handyman work to banking, ordering supplies, sales, social media, and technical troubleshooting. Baruch valued each coworker and customer as family, filling the workplace with music, laughter, and kindness.

Baruch dreamed of becoming a doctor and studied in college for a year, but when he saw the family business needed an extra hand, he returned to help, stronger and more determined than ever. He became a co-signer on the business bank account, created custom jewelry pieces, and took on more leadership.

Outside of work, gardening became one of Baruch’s greatest passions. He grew zucchini, eggplant, dragon fruit, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, blueberries, avocados, bananas, basil, mint, and flowers all with great care and dedication.

In addition to gardening, Baruch developed a deep passion for aquariums. It started in 2007 When he lived in apartment 803 at Tower 41, he set his first aquarium up at just nine years old. After buying a pair of fish, he was thrilled when they reproduced into thousands of baby fish within a month.

He personally redesigned his tank, guiding plumbers and mastering advanced systems, and his growing expertise soon earned him recognition in online reefing communities, where members affectionately called him a “chemist” and “reef scientist.” On the Reef2Reef community, where he was known by the username Miami Reef, Baruch became a respected leader, inspiring over 200,000 followers through his research and articles.

He was granted the Expert Contributor Badge on Reef2Reef for his many insightful articles, which helped thousands of reefers. His writings explored topics in biology, chemistry, and the art of reef keeping, reflecting his deep understanding of both the science and creativity behind the hobby.

Baruch’s dedication and expertise earned him several unique awards and honors. The first was the Battle Corals Grow-Out Contest in May 2025, where his Acropora coral, named EFFLO, achieved the fastest growth over a one-year span, a demonstration of his impressive reef-keeping skills. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, the Battlecorals company honored him by naming a coral The Miami Reef, a lasting tribute to his Reef2Reef username and his impact on the reefing community.

His intellect, patience, and curiosity stood out through everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on the world of reef keeping and all who learned from him.

Baruch was very handy and practical, using tools to assemble, repair, and build for both the family business and his home. He was equally resourceful with household tasks, taking care of lights, AC filters, plumbing, assembling furniture, troubleshooting computers, printers, and other technical issues. He approached every task with focus, creativity, and care, always leaving everything he touched better than he found it.

Though incredibly capable, and despite his many accomplishments, Baruch remained very humble. He always looked for good in every person and never sought recognition for his kindness or dedication. He often thought he wasn’t doing enough, even when one hour of his work equaled a full day’s effort for others.

Baruch had a deep love and connection with animals. And was passionate about nurturing them.

He raised chicks in the backyard; incubating eggs, feeding them by hand and caring for each new generation with patience and love. When the city later banned chickens, Baruch turned his attention to birds, hand-feeding and taming them from birth, building large cages, and ensuring they had the best food and toys. Baruch cared for his animals as though they were his own children, always feeding them before himself and cleaning their cages daily.

Over the years, his pets included fish; chicks that he raised into chickens; a hen and a rooster; parrots and a Sun Conure named Cheese; a macaw; a chinchilla; a white cat named Jack; and Teddy, a relative’s dog whom he treated as his own. He cared for all of them with love and respect.

From early on, Baruch had a special gift for connecting with children and younger cousins. They would run to him eagerly whenever they saw him, drawn to his warmth and playful spirit. He often took his beautiful birds to the Synagogue, where the children and younger cousins would gather around him in awe. He played and joked with them, always finding ways to make them smile. With gentle warmth, he would lift the children onto his shoulders, giving each child his full attention and a moment of happiness. Baruch’s love and care left a lasting impression on all the young hearts he touched.

When Baruch’s first niece, Adelia, was born, his heart overflowed with love. He cared for her as if she were his own child packing her diaper bag, preparing her formula and making sure she was fully taken care of. He often flew to New York to see her, bought her an entire wardrobe, and even washed and folded her clothes himself. Baruch cherished every given moment with Adelia. He gave her countless memories from taking of her to seeing Teddy, the beloved dog of a close relative. Baruch and Adelia shared a special bond filled with joy, tenderness, and love.

Baruch’s love for his parents ran very deep. He had tremendous respect for them and showed true kibud av va’em. Baruch would often put his own wants aside in order to make his parents happy. He never raised his voice to them and always spoke with kindness and humility.

Each morning, he lovingly prepared them breakfast, healthy, beautifully arranged and thoughtfully made. He reminded them to take their vitamins and often promised that, in their old age, he would care for them in his own home.

Baruch loved welcoming guests into his home and took great joy in celebrating Shabbat and the Jewish holidays; Passover, Sukkot, Shavuot, and Rosh Hashanah. He approached each occasion with warmth and enthusiasm, helping to prepare for the holidays and for Shabbat with care and creativity. His beautifully made challah and perfectly cooked Passover eggs reflected his generosity and his desire to bring happiness to those he loved. Baruch especially enjoyed decorating the sukkah, transforming it into a place of warmth, beauty, and togetherness.

The same care and attentiveness Baruch showed toward others reflected how he cared for himself. Despite having a housekeeper, Baruch always cleaned his own room, did his laundry, and took care of the pets. He believed in maintaining order and cleanliness in every aspect of his life. He valued health and discipline; going to the gym regularly and eating healthy. He maintained impeccable, hygiene, always consistent in caring for his health. He carried himself with the discipline and values of an older generation.

Baruch lived with humility and gratitude. He spoke softly, never raised his voice, and never argued. He carried his struggles quietly and always put others first.

We lost our dearest son, grandson, brother, and uncle, nephew, cousin, smart, talented, kind, caring, hardworking, and polite, and truly an angel on earth, from whom we all had so much to learn.

One could speak endlessly about Baruch’s talents, kindness, and warmth. We will forever miss his radiant smile and the goodness he left in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His memory will never fade.

We are grateful to Hashem for the blessing of having shared our lives with him, for the joy, love, and happiness he brought during his 26 years.

Baruch’s passing has left a deep emptiness and an unhealing wound in our hearts and in the lives of all who were loved by him. His legacy of a life defined by purpose, compassion, and a light to family and the living world around him will always be remembered.

We all want to thank everyone for your love and support in these hard times.
