Two Bukharian Jews starred in a 2021 movie that likely flew under your radar. «Better Than My Last» is an independent crime drama directed by Shawn Baker, centering around Damion Don Carter. After an eight-year stint at Fort Dix Federal Correction Institution in New Jersey, Carter reunites with his former credit card fraud crew from Brooklyn, swiftly returning to their illicit activities.

The TV movie earned the Viewers Choice Award at the Newark International Film Festival. Watch it now for free on Tubi, and keep an eye out for outstanding performances by Vyacheslav Rubinov as Leo the Russian and Zalman Akbashev, who shines in the role of Ian Chekov.
