Brotherhood, Basketball, and Building Preparedness
The new school year at JIQ Boys’ Middle and High School is already off to a powerful and meaningful start. With the halls once again filled with familiar smiles and fresh faces, the early weeks of the 2025–2026 school year have been marked by connection, growth, excitement—and responsibility.
From orientation to Torah learning to basketball tryouts, students jumped right into action. And behind the scenes, the staff of JIQ took part in essential training to ensure the physical and emotional safety of every student under their care.

Orientation & The First Day: Setting the Foundation
The year began with Orientation Week, where returning students were reminded of their goals, and new students were welcomed into the JIQ family. Rabbi Niyazov, Mrs. Sassoon spoke about the school’s vision for the year ahead—emphasizing discipline, respect, spiritual growth, and personal achievement.
By the first day of classes, it was clear that the boys were ready. Shiurim began with energy and focus, and general studies classes got straight to work. The sounds of pages turning, questions being asked, and ideas being shared filled every hallway and classroom.

Gun Defense Seminar: Protecting Our Yeshiva
In addition to educational and spiritual preparation, JIQ administration prioritized staff safety training through a gun defense seminar for teachers and faculty. The seminar was run by Eilon Even-Esh, a respected IDF veteran and Krav Maga expert, along with his team from Shomer360.
Staff members were trained in practical defense tactics, situational awareness, and emergency protocols in the event of a threat or armed encounter, G-d forbid. The seminar reflected JIQ’s commitment not only to chinuch (education), but also to pikuach nefesh (saving a life)—ensuring the well-being and protection of every student and staff member on campus.

Basketball Tryouts: The Lions Take the Court
As the boys settled into their learning, a different kind of intensity filled the gym during the JIQ Lions Basketball Tryouts. Under the leadership of Coach Chris, students laced up their sneakers and competed with focus and grit, hoping to earn a spot on the team.
Coach Chris brought a high level of professionalism and drive, pushing the boys to give their best on the court. With a strong combination of veterans and new talent, the JIQ Lions are shaping up to be a force to reckon with this season.

First Father-Son Breakfast: Learning & Ice Cream
A highlight of the opening weeks was the first Father-Son Breakfast and Learning Program. Fathers and sons gathered for an uplifting morning of Torah learning and quality time, strengthening the bonds between home and yeshiva.
After engaging in chavruta-style learning, attendees were treated to a warm breakfast—followed by a surprise ice cream dessert, making the event both spiritually and literally sweet. It was a powerful reminder that Torah is not just taught, but lived—and shared from generation to generation.

From the classroom to the Beit Midrash, the basketball court to the safety seminar, JIQ Boys’ School has begun the year with purpose, passion, and preparation. We look forward to a year filled with success, siyata dishmaya (help from heaven), and continued growth.
